Actually, I’ve noticed that she’s been wearing a lot more Indian clothes than she did before. I wonder if it’s just because she’s shooting for Ravana and discovered this new designer that she really loves or because she’s become a lot more comfortable and settled in her position as a star.

I always thought that a big part of why she wanted to crossover was because she felt that she might get side-lined in Indian films after marriage and a certain age. But the exact opposite has happened since. She’s been getting some fabulous roles. The international offers she has gotten so far have not been that interesting and now the West seems more Bollywood in general. She can stay home, be a good Indian girl, and still get great roles and be appreciated.

The Western clothes were, perhaps, a symptom of the insecurity both she (and Indian cinema) were feeling about how they would be accepted in the West, so they neutralized her accent and put her in Western clothes to demonstrate her “Westernness”.

I feel like the new more desi avatar is maybe a reflection of her new stability and comfort in her personal life as well as a her professional life. She doesn’t need to, for the lack of a better word, “pander” to Western sensibilities and is comfortable her own (desi) skin. There are no crazy boyfriends around complicating her life and career and she’s happily married into a family that supports her.

PS – Please don’t anybody write mean things to me about this post. If it isn’t made clear at this point, I’ve grown to have a lot of respect for Aish in the past year or so. I’m amazed and proud at her evolution as a star and the fact that I wanted to write this at midnight is evidence of that.

When I first saw the show advertise, I naturally assumed she meant Brad and Angelina, and then she showed these 2, who I have never seen before or heard of, quite a stretch in the advertising.

Only 2 types of people hate Ash.

1) Ugly females who have no chance to look like her, and so will put her down to make themselves feel better. My suggestion to these people is to go to a self-esteem class, so that they can learn to feel good about themselves and others.

2) Paki’s who are jealous of every Indian success. I would suggest to these people the following: Develop your own world class talent.

Ok so this show aired in Canada yesterday, and EVERYONE was talking about it! And not for Aishwarya, but for Abhishek! He was absolutely incredible! What a witty guy! Oprah would ask him something and he would have a smooth comment for it, it was absolutely adorable to see
