Katrina is a Barbie girl

Katrina Kaif as Barbie Doll at Lakme Fashion Week (1)231.jpg

Katrina Kaif is all set to immortalized as a new Barbie and the actress is quite happy with the honor.

She says, “I’d call it a fun honour. To have your face on dolls that you’ve played with from childhood is quite flattering. We’ve been in negotiation for nearly six months. It finally came together for the 50-year celebration of Barbie.”

Contrary to what people believe my Barbie is not an Indian counterpart of the international brand. It’s an honour because I’m the first Indian to be the face of Barbie. I’ll be dressed the way the Barbie is all over the world. And I think in many ways it’s an endorsement of how kids connect with me. You can’t be the face of an international doll unless kids like you. I like that. The thought that kids like me enough to make me a part of their doll collection is very gratifying.”

Katrina was also a part of the team who decided the doll’s look and dress, she says, “It is quite something, if you think about it. But I’d rather not. I don’t want my head to get swollen. For me it’s enough that I was chosen because I reflect a certain bubbly wholesome personality, quite contrary to the ‘sexy’ tag that I get in net polls and which I’m not very comfortable with.”

So wants to lay their hands on the Katrina Barbie?

sonam_kapoor.jpg

Sonam Kapoor is two films old and is now associated with meaninful flicks and not commercial flick, while she rocked in Saawariya she did a great job in Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 and now she is eager to work with King Khan SRK.

She says,  “He is another man for whom I will be so very willing to ignore my rule book. I would be more than happy to go ahead and sign a film if Shah Rukh happens to be my hero.”

“There are exceptions that one makes about the size and content of the role when it comes to working with legendary actors; De Niro and Shah Rukh just fit the bill.”

However her rule books comes into consideration if she has to work with others, she says, “I don’t intend to do films where all I am required to do is to dance in four songs and enact a couple of emotional scenes. By no means am I looking at that kind of cinema.”

Preity: IPL to get bigger

preity-zinta.jpg

Preity Zinta is one of the owners of IPL team King XI Punjab, who were the runner ups last season is pretty excited about the about IPL’s move to South Africa. Check out her interview below:

Was it a shock to you when the IPL was relocated to South Africa?

The option was to either have it outside India or not at all. No one is happy to shift from home ground. That thrill of playing across our own country at domestic tournaments is gone. Going to various cities with the matches is a high. However, people can still watch it on TV. That’s still there.

But an Indian event shifted to South Africa?

I know. But we’ve to be optimistic. Last year when the IPL started everyone thought it would flop. It became the biggest hit ever. Likewise the shift to South Africa could make the IPL bigger. What else can I do except be hopeful?

But it’s being translocated to a new culture and environment?

Of course, it is! But what can we do? I’ve always believed whatever happens in life happens for the best. The timing of the IPL crisis was unfortunate. My most challenging film, ‘Heaven On Earth’, is on release. I’d have liked more time nurturing it. You know I did ‘Heaven On Earth’ for myself. Lots of times I’ve done things for this reason and that. But this time it was entirely for me. I just needed to connect more with my inner self. This film made me do that.

Tell me about your preparation for the role.

I’ve worked quite a lot with battered women. I’ve studied so many kinds of mental disorders. Domestic violence comes much after other forms of disorder. Every scene in ‘Heaven On Earth’ rings true. I had a hundred notions on how to play the role. But when I met abused women I decided it has to be very real. I’m very proud of it. Let’s see how audiences in India react.

So the IPL moving out of India is like uprooting a national event?

Exactly. It’s like asking an actor to perform in a theatre where nobody knows him. But we’ll make sure that the quality and profile of the game don’t change. Only two percent of the audience watches the game in a stadium. Most of them watch the game on television.

But there’s that vibe when the game happens on home ground. That spirit can’t be captured anywhere. Having said that I don’t want to sound whiny and petty. I want to thank South Africa for agreeing to host the IPL games. They’ve gone out of their way to accommodate us, flung their fields open to us. I think South Africa will make a beautiful home for the games.

Wasn’t the choice between South Africa and England?

Yes, there were several options. But it finally came down to choosing between those two countries. We didn’t want to go into a place where there was too much rain. I think South Africa will be fun. Who knows, they might even allow me to play. That’s my secret fantasy. Miracles do happen, you know.

Is it just elections that ousted IPL from India. Or was there a security scare after what happened to the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan?

I refuse to believe India is scared about the security. Does the country shut down because we can’t get enough security? I think we need to vote even more carefully. We must put proper people in places of power. I don’t think we should vote for anyone who has got criminal records. See their track records and then vote.

How will you be ready with the IPL in South Africa in time?

We Indians don’t only exist in chaos. We thrive in it. Even last year when IPL happened for the first time we grappled with all odds. I know I’m going to have sleepless nights. But that’s a different story. I can’t pretend I’m not disappointed by the relocation. But South Africa is a terrific country.

I’ll have lots to do besides cricket. In Punjab it was difficult for me to move out. Preity Zinta will have a blast shopping in South Africa. Preity Zinta, the team owner, is worried. We’ve no players from South Africa. Neither does Shah Rukh (Khan).

Are the boys demoralized by the relocation?

Their choice was between no IPL and IPL in South Africa.

Lets see Preity’s dhamaal and kamaal at this IPL.

Neil to go bald for Jail

mukesh1.jpg

Madhur Bhandarkar apparently is forcing newbie Neil Nitin Mukesh to shave of his hair for his flick Jail.

An onlooker at the location of the shooting reveals, “Madhur enjoys huge popularity among the masses and the classes, all thanks to the hard-hitting films he makes. Thus when we got to know that he is shooting behind the famous Lucky restaurant in Bandra for ‘Jail’ we reached the venue to get a glimpse of the popular director.”

“Neil Nitin Mukesh has cut his hair so short that he almost looks bald. It looked liked the crew cut which Saif sported in Omkara and Akshay sports off the screen.”

Madhur confirms the news and says,  “Neil Nitin Mukesh has cut his hair so short that he almost looks bald. It looked liked the crew cut which Saif sported in Omkara and Akshay sports off the screen.”

“Vikram Gaikwad, who had earlier worked on Omkara, has done the hair styling of Neil in Jail. So there is a possibility of you finding the hairdos of Neil and Saif similar.”

What do you think of Neil’s new hairdo? Would he look good?

Arjun Rampal gifts saree to Nicole Kidman

arjun.jpg

Arjun Rampal recently shot for an ad with Hollywood star Nicole Kidman and gifted her a beautiful saree designed by ace Indian designer Tarun Tahiliani when she was about to leave.

A source says,”The shoot was very hectic due to Nicole and Arjuns already busy schedule. Nicole initially didnt know that Arjun was a Bollywood star till she saw fans asking for his autographs and taking pictures. Since they had very little time due to the packed schedule, Nicole, who wanted to shop, barely got the chance to do so. Realising this, Arjun asked his wife Meher to get her a sari designed by Tarun Tahiliani. It was a sheer Italian metallic chiffon with tiny swarovski sprinkled on it, a typical Tarun sari.”

Arjun also confirmed this news,”Yes, it is true and Nicole loved it and was very happy about it. She is a complete professional and we did a very good commercial together.”

Nicole was quite touched by Arjun’s gift. Well Arjun does know how to impress his ladies.

It’s Splitsvilla for Katrina-Salman?

katrina-kaif _41_.jpg

Rumors are rife that Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan’s relationship is going through a rough patch, however Salman according to reports is behaving very strangely with Katrina, inspite of the fact that she loves him very much.

A source says, “Salman hardly talks to Katrina even when she is with him. Periods of cold silence in any relationship signal that the couple has drifted apart and this is the last thing Katrina wants in her life.”

“Problem is, except for one thing, Salman hasn’t changed at all. Like all his previous relationships (with Somy Ali, Sangeeta Bijlani and Aishwarya Rai) to him, love means ownership.”

“Like always, this time too, Salman wants to entirely control the reins of his relationship with Katrina. Just like he will not directly confront Katrina on her friendship with Ranbir Kapoor or any of her other co-actors, Katrina too has been told in no uncertain terms that she shouldn’t question him about anything.”

“Suddenly, Salman has started feeling that he should get married but to someone who will be a perfect housewife and not someone who has a life of her own.”

“Katrina loves not only Salman but also his parents. She doesn’t want to do anything that will hurt his family. She is very fond of all of them.”

However Katrina is hopeful that her love will win, as the source adds, “When will Salman realise that love is all about companionship?”

What do you think about this news folks?

Gauri wanted SRK’s movies to flop

srk-and-gauri-wallpaper.jpg

Now the supercouple of Bollywood SRK and Gauri share a fabulous relationship together, but very few people know that in SRK’s heydays Gauri wanted SRK’s films to flop. Gauri reveals all this in talks with First Ladies hosts Abu Jaani and Sandeep Khosla. Read the interview below:

You and Shahrukh Khan are totally self-made. Isn’t it an incredible high to achieve so much at such a young age  ?
“Absolutely, it’s amazing and we thank god every day for whatever we have but I think Shahrukh is extremely hard working so he deserves every bit of it.”

Were you really the rock, the pillar behind Shahrukh  ?
Actually that’s not true because I was not too happy about him coming to Bombay and I didn’t even know when he became a star. It was very shocking for me firstly to be here and films and everything. It was very difficult. And I actually did not want his films to do well. I thought if it flopped I should go back to Delhi.

“He (Shah Rukh) was always ambitious. He always topped in school and college, whether it be as a student; in football, in hockey, in theatre … everything. For me, whatever he would touch would turn into gold. I was smart to marry him. I think that’s my smartness that I chose the right guy.”

You and Shahrukh met quiet early almost in the teens  …
“Yes he was the first person I met and went out with and he has been the only man.”

In India Shahrukh has done almost everything and it would be wonderful if he goes to Hollywood. Comment?
“If today he says I don’t want to act and be just a director or producer I’ll be fine with whatever he’s happy with. I’d rather have him with kids; spend more time at home that would be better for me.”

Is it true that you and Shahrukh had to fight to be together?
“Yes my parents were obviously not for it because we were so young and then to take a decision to get married to a person who was going to join films and being from a different religion. We even changed his name to ‘Abhinav’ so that they feel he was a Hindu boy and that was really silly and childish.”

How did you make the decision to leave everything behind in Delhi and follow the man of your dream  ?
“It’s been an amazing journey I would say. When I came to Bombay everything was new, life was very different, new people and new home but I enjoyed every bit of it. But we used to visit Delhi very often in the beginning.”

Where did you out up in the early days in Bombay  ?
“Mr. Aziz Mirza – we stayed at his place for 6 months. It was very sweet of him and then we rented an apartment and there was nothing. My mom came from Delhi and there was no bed there, no sofa, no chair, just a kitchen. She was shocked to see me like that. She said, ‘Why don’t you have a bed? Where is the chair?’ So I said, ‘This is the ‘Gadda’ (mattress) sleep on this’.”

Do you remember the date Shahrukh bought you the first diamond ?
“I bought it myself! I grabbed it actually. I’m quite a grabber. He doesn’t have to gift me anything.”

What’s the one thing you love doing together?
“Watching desperate house wives. He loves to watch that with me.”

Do you miss the earlier days, the simple times?
Shahrukh said, “No I don’t miss them. People ask me this question very often but I don’t miss going and having ‘chaat’ in ‘Gol Market’, I’ve never wanted to eat pav bhaji on Chaupatty either. I’m very happy being a star. I love what comes with it. I also appreciate the hard work I have to do for it and I don’t want to wear dark glasses to hide from the world that I’m a superstar and I really enjoy it.”

No wonder the hot couple is the supercouple of Bollywood.
