Im Not An Underdog: Sonam Kapoor

sonam-kapoor-wallpaper.jpg

Sonam Kapoor who is ready for her second release Delhi 6 has a lot of young competition with Asin, Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone and others but she tells the world that she is not an underdog.

“I did my first film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and my second film ‘Delhi-6′ is with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. These are big names and I am on top of the world. I am not at all an underdog. I am Anil Kapoor’s daughter. I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth,” Sonam told reporters here Friday.r.

“Awards are important and it was important for me to win one for ‘Saawariya’. I was quite upset that I didn’t get the award,” she said.

Sonam, who has recently signed a comic caper “Come On Pappu” with Akshay Kumar, finds comparison with Deepika unfair.

“I can’t compare myself with Deepika. She is doing mostly commercial roles and I am not. She is signing more films, but I want to do one film at a time. It takes nearly a year for a film to be made and that’s why I am being seen lesser than her,” said Sonam.

Well… relax girl… let your work speak for you.

Lok Sabha elections are coming soon and Aamir Khan is hoping that Indian political parties bring a positive change to the India by fielding some dynamic, intelligent yet honest politicians for the elections.

“I think public sentiment is that we are looking for leaders to be positive and progressive and take us forward and we would like to believe that you would do that and you can do that,” Aamir said at the NDTV Indian of the Year 2008 award ceremony here Wednesday.

“The reason I am saying this is because the general elections are round the corner and I, as a common citizen of the country, expect and hope that the major political parties field the candidates who are clean, intelligent and really deserving of our votes. I am really looking forward to that in all humility,” he added.

Accepting the award, Aamir said: “I am really grateful for the faith everyone has shown in my films. It has been really encouraging. Kangana Doesnt Favor Live in Relationships!

kangana01-thumb.jpg

Kangana Ranaut’s latest film Raaz The Mystery Continues has hit the screen and we still have to wait to see how the film fares at the box office. Kangana after the success of Fashion, got another glamourous role.

She plays a model again. “I am playing the role of a successful model, who is disturbed by some spirits. This is a character-oriented movie and I am eagerly waiting for its release,” she says.
Kangana’s character in the film lives in with her boyfriend played by her real-life beau Adhyayan. However in real life she doesn’t favor the idea of living in.

“With time everything has changed, men are living with men and women are marrying women. I do not want to offend anybody here but we should not get carried away by the western culture. We have to preserve our values and I am not in favour of any live-in relation,” stated Ranaut.

When asked about her marriage plans, Kangana said: “I am too young for a marriage. I am just 21 and first want to secure my career before taking any such decision.”

“I faced many problems when I came to Mumbai three years back. Here nobody helps you till you have a godfather. I have learnt so many things here and think that I have gained the wisdom of a 40-year-old human in the last two-three years through my struggle,” she said.

She has earned a fairly good reputation as an actor for her tender age.

AR Rahman’s Dream Come True

ar rahman (425).jpg

AR Rahman took over the Golden Globes and now he will sweep away all the coveted titles at the Oscars.

“What can I say? It’s a dream come true not so much for me as my wife. She’d wake up in the middle of the night and say, ‘I want you to win an Oscar’. And I’d just smile. Today my wife’s dream seems a possibility,” Rahman said.

“But I don’t want to get too hopeful,” he quickly added. “Let’s just rejoice for the nomination at the moment. I’m happy not just for myself but Gulzar sahab who has been nominated for the lyrics of Jai ho. I wish Javed sahab had got nominated too. If he had written a song in Slumdog Millionaire I’m sure he too would’ve been nominated,” the music director said.

“My wife and children jumped with joy when they heard the announcement. And my mother is also here with me. It’s all her prayers and support and her upbringing that’s bearing fruit now,” he said.

You deserve every bit of this Rahman… Jai Ho!

Kaante To Have A Sequel!

kaante.JPGSanjay Gupta’s hit multi-starrer film Kaante is all set to have a sequel.

“After the release of ‘Acid Factory’ we will get to know why producer Sanjay Gupta is so confident about this flick.  It is the belief that his next stylish flick has the stuff to be a winner at the box office, which has made him announce the sequel to ‘Kaante’. Well the team has not zeroed in on the name of the flick yet, but it sure will be a sequel to ‘Kaante’,” reports a source.

Well… you better be careful Mr.Gupta… Not all sequels are as a good as the prequel.

Manisha Koirala Ready For a Solid Comeback!

manisha koirala.jpg

Manisha Koirala has been coming back time to time… the last comeback I remember is some crap called Mehbooba co-starring Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt… There were some similar films before that… I forget their names. But, Manisha Koirala is apparently getting ready for a big comeback with a Mani Ratnam film. Her earlier Mani Ratnam films Bombay and Dil Se got her a lot of appreciation and she hopes to repeat the same with her comeback film.

Manisha is said to have lost oodles of weight for this slightly gray role she has in the Mani flick. Hope that works for her.

Freida Pinto on cloud nine

BAFTA+LA+Awards+Season+Tea+Party+6TUQzJGNv6Al.jpg

Freida Pinto is the star of the moment, with everybody noticing her for being a part of Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominated Slumdog Millionaire.

Ask her about her dream debut and she says, “I need to treasure these moments for the rest of my life. For someone who’s never acted before, this break was a blessing. Working for Danny Boyle was like attending the best acting school. When we started working, he told me, ‘Life isn’t always the same. Brace yourself for the world!’ The attention does get overwhelming at times and I’m still getting used to it. I’m a shy, reserved girl. Even when today someone compliments me, I get very embarrassed.”

Ask her if the world has changed for her after Slumdog and she says, “Not at all. I’m still the same, sensitive and simple girl who always dreamed about being an actress. The only thing that’s changed is that the girl walking around in jeans and tees has now taken to wearing designer dresses. Being in the public eye is unnerving at times but I think it’s a small price everyone pays for fame. But I keep telling myself all the time — I’m an actor, not a star.”

Well said Freida :)
