Arshad Embarassed!!!

arshad_warsi_002_300x356.jpg
Arshad Warsi was recently highly embarrassed with the announcement of the National Awards. The best actor in a supporting role in the prestigious awards was won by “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”, and people took it as it would be Arshad Warsi. Even the actor presumed that it was him. Only after that the awards were announced that he came to know that it wasn’t him and the award was won by the actor who played Gandhi!!

“First my family and close friends saw my name being flashed on television non-stop. They rang me up to tell me I had won the National award for Munnabhai. I was like, ‘Yesss. I’ve finally done it. Throughout the day I got congratulatory sms. But then in the evening the bubble burst. I was told that the guy who played Gandhi had got it. Tough luck,” says the actor going pink with embarrassment.

Poor thing….best of luck next time Arshad!!

Julie In Singhh Is King

neha-dhupia.jpg
Neha Dhupia, who was stamped as sexy after the bold movie, Julie, has come face to face with the name again. The lady is playing a character named Julie in Akki’s next, Singh Is Kinng. Neha wasn’t at first ready for the role as it wasn’t a lead one, but she agreed when she was told that it was an equally important role.

“I don’t think the Julie connection will ever leave me! Even today when I go up north and to the small towns, people say’ Arre Julie Aa Gayi! Since the association is so strong, I said, why not christen my character Julie!”, is what the hot actress has to say.

Well…..all we wonder is whether this Julie character is similar to the earlier one!!;)

Billo Barber: Priyadarshan’s Milestone

priya1.jpg
Priyadarshan’s next flick to be released after “Mere Baap Pehle Aap,” will be Billo Barber…and believe it or not, it’s gonna be his 75th movie and the film maker is on cloud #9 with that fact. Billo Barber is said to be an emotional picture and Priyan surely has a lot of expectations from it as it also stars SRK and Irfan Khan.
We surely wish this director goes on and on and on

Shetty Sisters Move Towards Production

far1.jpg
The fact that Shilpa shetty and her sister Shamita Shetty are not seen very often on the silver screen can be explained by the fact that the duo are planning to venture in production. Lady, Shamita Shetty, when tracked down, said “Yes, we are coming out with our own production house probably by next year. It’s still in the planning stage. This is also a reason why you are not seeing much of me on screen. Right now I am concentrating more on my production project.” Shamita Shetty, who has just done an item number is Hari Puttar, is much exited to explore a new territory.
Let’s see if the production career goes on well or just stubs down like the acting one.

Movie Review: Summer 2007

summer2007-2008-2b.jpg
Starring: Sikander Kher, Yuvika Chaudhary, Gul Panag, Arjan Baweja, Alekh Sangal
Director: Suhail Tatari
What To Watch For: Marvelous acting by the actors, the projection of a sensitive issue in a beautiful way.
What Will Bore You Away: Oddly sequenced love songs in middle of a chaotic situation

My Analysis:
After Rang De Basanti, here’s another movie which would make you wonder about what you are contributing to make your society, your country to make a better place to live. The movie deals with the very sensitive and shameful issue of farmer suicidal.
The first initial stage of the movie is about how a group of young and rich youngsters, Rahul Sharma (Sikander Kher), Priyanka (Yuvika Chowdhary), Qateel (Arjan Bajwa), Vishakha (Gul Panag) and Bagani (Alekh Sangal) have a blast and have nothing to worry about while doing their MBBS. The would-be doctors are enjoying every bit of their life with more than required money in their bank balances. They smoke, they drink, they party, and they live their life to the fullest. And then comes the internship time of the rich kids in a village with depressed farmers in it. The kids, as any other Richie kid would take it as, expect the trip to be more of a relaxing holiday at a place away from the city’s Shor Sharaba. But soon, they come to face the harsh reality of the village and the poor people living in it. With farmers poisoning themselves along with the family, the politics prevailing in village which stops the development and draws the farmers closer to debts and disease and poverty, the youngies start feeling helpless and horrible. And when they finally have an option to return back to their comfortable and rich society, they face a dilemma in deciding what to do. Will they go back to the luxury….or help fighting the hard and filthy circumstances faced by the poorest of the country?
The movie makes you go emotional and has a brilliant performance by the actor Sikander Kher. The songs seem to be a little out of the situation, but the movie earns a great applause for doing full justice to a sensitive issue like this.
My Rating: 4/5

Movie Review: Mere Baap Pehele Aap

6r3fgm.jpg
Starring: Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Shobhna, Genelia D’ Souza, Rajpal Yadav, Archana Puran Singh, Manoj Joshi, Naseeruddin Shah.
Director: Priyadarshan
Producer: Mansi Maroo, Ketan Maroo
What To Watch For: Hilarious Comedy by Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Akshaye Khanna……..etc
What Will Bore You Away: At times a little over acting by Archana Puran Singh and Rajpal Yadav
My Analysis:

After a week of serious releases, here is a movie which is to make you laugh your way along the movie. Mere Baap Pehele Aap has proven itself to be a complete entertainer. The movie as the typical Priyadarshan movies has made people laugh n laugh n laugh. It’s a story about Janaradhan (Paresh Rawal) and his younger son Gaurav (Akshaye Khanna). Janardhan is a single parent who has brought up his two kids Chirag (Manoj Joshi) and Gaurav and now that the kids are old enough, Gaurav has started helping and managing the business his father owns. Gaurav is keen on keeping his beloved and innocent dad away from his “Tharki” friend, Madhav (Om Puri) who is determined to get married at this age. Janardhan and his Tharki friend Madhav always land up in troubles and are rescued at the right time by Gaurav; whenever Madhav tries hitting on babes who would’ve probably been Madhav’s daughter’s friend had he had a daughter (and the troubles also include their encounters with the cop played by Archana Puran Singh.). Amidst of this, one day, janardhan happens to meet Anuradha (Shobhana), who is gaurav’s college friend, Shikha’s (Genelia D’ Souza’s) guardian. And with that starts the story of our older hero, Paresh Rawal. Anuradha is supposedly Janrdhan’s long lost first love. Gaurav and Shikha notice the shyness and change in behavior of both Janardhan and Anuradha when they meet or talk to each other and decide to get the duo married. The way though is not easy.
The movie comes with a package of comedy, with Paresh Rawal and Om Puri giving their best at comedy. Om Puri is marvelous with Rajpal Yadav and Archana Puransingh being a little louder. Naseer Uddin Shah’s guest appearance is also a good one. All in all, the movie is a pleasure to watch.
My rating: 3.5/5

Brand Ambassador: Ignored!!!

vivek_ash.jpg
The brand ambassador of the IIFa, Aishwarya Rai was surely the shiny piece of attraction at the IIFA. While everyone wanted to get a glimpse of the actress, there was this one actor who constantly went on ignoring the beauty. Vivek Oberoi, who was at IIFA for the screening of his film, Mission Istanbul, did everything but face Aishwarya. The duo had dated each other big time before the lady dumped the man. Not everyone is big hearted like Shahid, are they??
