Shahrukh Khan gets a French Honor
Shah Rukh Khan gets the coveted French honor Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of the Arts and Literature), an award of the French government for his “exceptional career”. This brings our King Khan among the highly acclaimed circle of actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford! Indians, who were conferred this award for excellence, were Tamil superstar Sivaji Ganesan, film-maker Mrinal Sen and Carnatic musician M Balamurali Krishna. The awarding ceremony will be held in this summer. After the honor of having a wax statue in Madame Tussaud’s this comes as a pleasant and unexpected surprise.
It is raining sequels in Bollywood!
Abbas-Mustan are ready to surge through the bandwagon of sequels with sequels planned for their three most famous thrillers- Khiladi, Baazigar and Badshah.
Abbas and Mustan sounded very much positive about the idea, “Yes, the idea was mooted by Ratan Jain of Venus, since the three films are Venus productions. It all depends on when we get the right script. When we sounded off the idea to Akshay, he jumped with joy since Khiladi was the turning point in his career. The films will have to be made with the original actors [Akshay, SRK], otherwise it makes no sense to go ahead with them”. Ah well sure the films worked then but will they work again? Give it a thought guys…
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif Split???
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have been in news due to their speculated marriage for quite some time now. But looks like there is some real time problem for this impending marriage. Apparently the couple is hesitant to move around together. Both Salman and Katrina landed on the red carpet IIFA at different timings. Also Salman was spotted with an unidentified guest who was later identified as Govinda’s daughter Narmada Kumar. So what do we guess from it? Hope the Splits Ville has not struck the lovely couple!
Hrithik finally signed the 35 crore Adlabs deal
This time around the rumor mill has churned some good news for Hrithik. The much speculated 35 crore deal between Hrithik Roshan and Adlabs is finally on track. Manmohan Shetty of Adlabs has confirmed the news saying Hrithik will be doing three films with Adlabs in the coming three years. The contract is somewhat similar to the one signed by Priyanka for UTV which gives the actor the freedom to select scripts, directors and also co-stars. And also these films will be big and of quite big budgeted.
IIFA 2007 event sizzles
Ah what a start studded extravaganza it turned out to be- IIFA 2007 Yorkshire!
Hrithik got the best actor and also the most glamorous male award at the grand function. Aishwarya took the most glamorous female award. Dharmendra was given the Life Time achievement award. Big B and Small B danced together. The Yorkshire government presented the Big B with the traditional Shepard’s Staff. Saif bagged the best actor in the Negative Role for Omkara. RDB swept away many awards including best film. Munnabhai got the best dialogue award and none other than Circuit (Arshad Warsi) got the best Supporting actor for the same film. Enjoy the pics:
Priyanka goes out to protect Abhishek Bachchan
Priyanka Chopra is sure going to make some heads turn. You saw her as the “Junglee Billi” in Farhan Akhtar’s Don and you will now see her as Abhishek’s bodyguard in Drona. And guess what, the lady had to learn some real time martial arts from Punjab.
“I had to train for the Sikh martial art form using kirpans and chakkars. It was difficult and required a lot of flexibility,” says our daring beauty.
With Ash doing her sword fights with Hrithik in Jodha-Akbar and Priyanka at her heels doing some daring bits it looks like it should be difficult to challenge heroines in Bollywood now.

Synopsis:
A train pulls into C.S.T. station and two young men step off. It’s their very first visit to Mumbai city. Only they are not here to visit. They have arrived with dreams of buying Mumbai out. Poor deluded fools, you might think… but that’s only till the first time you run into them. After that, it’ll be clear enough who’s deluded and who has just been made the fool. For this is a pair of street toughs par excellence… Jai, the younger of the two looks up to Veeru for guidance. Veeru in turn looks out for him. The pair’s loyalty to one another is absolute. Virendra Chavan (Ajay Devgan) and Jai Ranade (Prashant Raj) grew up in Latur together, where they came to be known to their town folk as Veeru & Jai. From their early days, the young men admired success and strength and sought in every which way to emulate it. Veeru went to work as a bodyguard for Sharad Patil, the local political heavyweight. But, when Patil went to jail in a scam, he lost his job. It was then that idea of coming to Mumbai took his fancy. As expected, his prodigy Jai tagged along. So Mumbai it was…Within a week of their arrival on the recommendation of an old acquaintance of theirs called Soorma (Rajpal Yadav) who runs a dance bar, they found work with Shambhul Seth, a criminal with heavy underworld connections and also high on the police scanner. In his pursuit of Shambhul, the Inspector Ranveer (Mohanlal) came into contact with Veeru and Jai. On meeting them, he realized that these were no hardened criminals. Small time hoodlums, perhaps, but deep inside their values were still intact. He chose to appeal to the honesty in them. He exposed them to Shambhul’s criminal past. Veeru and Jai were surprised by this. They agreed to help in whatever way they could. The inspector in the process of trying to get Shambhul got into a deadly trap and both Veeru and Jai in a show of extraordinary courage and strength managed to rescue him and managed to finish off Shambhul seth. But in the bargain, Veeru and Jai had to be arrested as well for associating with a criminal and for a while went to jail. Much later, when the inspector needed help in his hunt for Gabbar Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), his brief impression of these two young men returned to him. Since he could not expect the police to help in a quest for personal revenge, and his principles would not allow him to turn to the underworld for help, he decided to enlist the help of Veeru and Jai.

Karan: How’s life been?
Preity: Life’s been good! I just wrapped up a movie Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and now it’s ready for release.Karan: Yes, it’s releasing soon and everyone’s saying it’s looking fabulous. In fact, the promos are on air and everyone’s loving them.
Preity: Well, I’ve had a great time shooting for it. It’s been a great experience. First time working with Abhishek — you never cast me with him!Karan: Well, you guys were the deprived parties in KANK and those two were having an affair behind your backs. You silly people!
Preity: No, no, no. Jokes aside, working with AB for the first time and working with Bobby after eight-nine years… Lara, I was working with for the first time, so it’s been great. I worked with Shaad in Dil Se when he was an assistant and I started off my career then and now working with him. So it’s been great!Karan: When you look back at Soldier, do you think it was just the other day or you feel a lot of time has flown?
Preity: Actually, I didn’t feel these nine years, to be honest. It’s been the best time of my life. The industry has given me everything and you know people always say, this industry is sleazy, there is a casting couch, people are like this. I think people treat you the way you want to be treated by them. I have never encountered any problem with anybody who’s being cheap or sleazy because I have never portrayed myself like that.Karan: Because you have met very classy and elegant people.
Preity: Like Karan Johar? Like KJ?Karan: Yeah, so there has been no problem on that end. I’m more of the couch myself rather than being the casting couch.
Karan: Yeh Pritam Singh ka origin bata dena mujhe.
Preity: Bobby, please don’t destroy me. Please, I beg you!
Bobby: Well, she’s like a guy… like a buddy.Karan: You two have been friends for a while and you’ve kept in touch even when you’ll didn’t work together?
Preity: Yes. Bobby and me have known each other before I became an actor.
Bobby: She would be with us. We would all go out in my dad’s van every night and she would be sitting right at the back, quietly to herself. One day, she came up to me and said ‘Okay, I’m doing criminal psychology. Can I make you my subject?’ And I said to her, look Preity, I would love to but I’m from this family and if I talk about myself and if you say my subject Bobby Deol, I can’t do it!Karan: You wanted to make Bobby your subject?
Preity: But, you know, in the beginning, I didn’t know Bobby as Dharmendra’s son.Karan: Who did you think he was?
Preity: I swear! When I first met him, he was one of the guys in the group and I had to look for someone between 23-28. I needed five subjects.

Just as Ram Gopal Varma’s sholay is making news for its raunchy Urmila doing immortal Helen’s ‘Mehbooba’ number, Himesh Reshammmiyan is keeping it no less for fiery Mallika Sherawat doing the same number in his film “Aap Ka Suroor”.

Superheroes are common for Hollywood but for Bollywood it was Hrithik who started the phenomenon and won hearts. Looks like this monopoly is soon going to be shaken with Abhishek doing his daredevil acts as a Superhero in Goldie Behl’s ‘Drona’. And now the rumors are that the ball is not just between Hrithik and Abhishek’s court but also in Shah Rukh Khan’s court too.

IIFA 2007 is here
It is raining stars in Yorkshire for this year’s International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards. The awards was officially started in 2000 in London and has gone places after that. It is considered to be the most awaited Bollywood gathering. This five-day weekend awards celebration is expected to attract 28,000 visitors and will be broadcast to a global audience of nearly 500 million in 110 countries. And needless to mention that the event is our Bollywood stars’ favorite!
