Bollywood to get hotter this winter
Come winter, and the mercury is going to soar in bollywood courtesy two former Miss Worlds – Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra who are all set to wear bikinis in their forthcoming films.
These rumours are creating much noise even before the release of these films.It seems Bollywood has suddenly waken-up to the bikini buzz.
This is the first time Ash will be seen in a bikini. According to reports, Ash recently lost oodles of weight in a span of 10 days . “We wanted her to look hot in the movie and the extra flab had to go,” says Sanjay Gadhvi, director of Dhoom 2.
However, Sanjay is tightlipped when it comes to the bikini question. “No comments,” is all he has to say, to whether Ash will be seen in a bikini or not.
Another Miss World Priyanka Chopra is not far behind in the bikini race as she’s all set to don a bikini in the remake of ‘Don’. However, this is not the first time Priyanka will be wearing the sexy attire.Priyanka will be doing the role that Zeenat Aman did in the original.
But it remains to be seen whether she recreates the magic of Zeenat Aman.
Germans dance to Bollywood tunes !!!
Guess who’s shaking a leg to the latest Bollywood songs and lapping up Indian movies - an entire generation of young Germans, as an Indian delegation recently found to its surprise.
An Indian Film festival was held in Stuttgart earlier this month , to promote bilateral ties between India and Germany. M.G Yaskhi, a Lok Sabha MP, who was part of the delegation said he was “amazed” to see young Germans enjoying Bollywood movies, songs and even dancing to the lively dance tunes in a place like Stuttgart where not too many Indians live.
According to him, of the 350-400 youngsters who gathered to watch the pop music show, only 75 to 100 were Indians, and everybody else was German. It was the same for the films as well, with Germans outnumbering Indians at least three to one.
“Even a movie like ‘Mixed Doubles’ that does not have music or well known actors was watched keenly by the Germans,” said Yaskhi .
Yaskhi was amazed to find local TV channels in South Germany showing Hindi movies with German subtitles every week and German papers carrying a lot of stories about India.
Stuttgart has been hosting Indian film festivals for the past three years.
Kangana is sure going places ….
With the success of Gangster,Kangana Ranaut has become the hottest newcomer in town.
Fashion is an integral part of Bollywood and the pressure to look glamorous onscreen can be a bit too much at times. But newcomer Kangana Ranaut seems to be comfortable with the idea and says she loves to be trendy and fashionable, reports Bollywood Trade.
“I love to be in vogue. I have more of a western taste. I am not too much into Indian dresses. I only wear them occasionally for marriages and parties. I think western outfits really gel with my personality,” says Kangana.
“Our profession is such that we don’t get enough time to work out. But whenever I get time I dance, do yoga, etc. I detest lazing around. I believe healthy food is very important so I make sure I have my meals on time. I guess one should eat right, eat healthy to be fit and energetic,” said Kangana.
With her kind of looks, Kangana is definitely going places. According to reports, she has replaced Aditya Pancholi’s daughter Sana Pancholi in Suneel Darshan’s “Shakalaka Boom” starring Bobby Deol and Upen Patel.
Soha prefers Bengali films to Bollywood
Bollywood star Soha Ali Khan says she prefers Bengali films to Bollywood as Bengali films have more powerful roles for girls .
She told media persons on the sets of her latest film “Ahista Ahista” starring Abhay Deol, “I like Bengali films much more because they have strong roles for girls and they make films out of love, not for commercial reasons” .
She, however, brushed aside rumours of her starting a production house with her brother – actor Saif Ali Khan.
Soha, was a part of this year’s biggest hit “Rang De Basanti”. Post “Rand De Basanti”, she has become very choosy about her projects and people have started appreciating her acting talent. Her forthcoming films include Aparna Sen’s film ‘Jewellery Box’ and Sudhir Mishra’s film, ‘Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan’ with Shiney Ahuja. And there are two films which are almost complete – ‘Postcards’ by Rajshree Ojha and ‘Meridian’ a commercial film by Vinod Mitra.
Soha says she is currently learning Kathak and working on her dialogues. Ask her about her alleged link-ups with her co-stars, and she says, “As far as rumours are concerned, there is a lot of irresponsibility in the media. The thing is, you can use tabloids to your advantage”.

Indian cinema is sure going global ! After the big B became a Doc, now its the turn of his film – Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, to make news in Toronto … In the 31st annual Toronto Film Festival, the latest flick from the Johar camp will be screened as a part of the Gala section !
Never Say Goodbye (KANK renamed) will also sport English subtitles for the benefit of the international audiences … The mega movie, starring heart throbs of three generations, won’t be the only Indian film to be screened there … There are 4 other films in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu and Manipuri in the offering ! Good going Bollywood

John is going the Viveik Oberoi way.Viveik had learnt to play the guitar for his role in “OMKARA”, and it is John’s turn now. John is taking guitar lessons from someone associated with the international band ‘Santana’.
John Abraham will appear in a totally new avatar for his forthcoming film “ROCKSTAR” directed by Imitiaz Ali (of SOCHA NA THA fame). John plays a singer-cum-guitarist in this film, that is slated to go on floors this October.According to reports, the film has some great music by A.R Rahman. It’s basically a love story. Ali cannot stop raving about the music while the vice-president of UTV feels that the film will be their “RANG DE BASANTI” for 2007 in terms of music.
Bollywood Actors in London Shops
Bollywood fans in London will be able to buy 12-inch dolls of famous actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra from the first of August.
They are the first four actors whose dolls are being launched in the market under the brand name ‘Bollywood Legends’ by toy manufacturer and distributor Spin Master Toys UK along with entrepreneur Shameen Jivraj, who had come up with the concept some four years back.
Shameen heads the ‘Shiny Doll’ development team as well as many other well-known children’s brands such as ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Teletubbies’.
She said, “I became intrigued by Bollywood a little while ago and was drawn into the movies with their mix of fun, fashion, music and dance. It’s such a magical and emotive arena and I wanted to create something that would allow the audiences to be able to take some of that magic home to treasure and enjoy in a unique and new way”.
It needs to be seen whether such stuff is launched in the Indian Market as well.
Omkara- A mix of passion and gangwar
“Omkara” is Vishal Bharadwaj’s bollywood version of the famous Shakespearan play “Othello”. It is the story of a jealous lover who is the leader of a gang of outlaws in India’s modern day political scenario.
The title character of Omkara, is played by Ajay Devgan, who chooses one of of his two companions as his chief advisor and the pride of the other, played by Saif Ali Khan, is hurt.Raging with envy, he hatches a plot to create misunderstandings between Omkara and his beautiful fiance, played by Kareena Kapoor.Omkara’s jealousy, lack of trust and blind obsession for his lover tears his world apart.
“Omkara” is keenly awaited by all, not just for its unusual storyline but the performance of its lead actors and their image makeovers.Their roles are a drastic departure from their traditional images.
The film marks Saif’s spoilt lover boy image change to that of a repellent political manipulator- with yellow stained teeth and a limp to perfect the character of Iago.Ajay Devgan plays the role of a jealous lover for the first time and Desdemona’s character is played by the talented Kareena Kapoor, who is better known for her glamourous roles.
Hrithik returns to Nepal in a Grand Way
‘Krrish’,the Hrithik Roshan starrer has become one of the recent blockbusters in Nepal, much against the ban imposed on him some years back.
Hrithik had earned the wrath of Nepalese people following a falsely reported remark about Nepal in an interview during the release of ‘Mission Kashmir’.
A local publication had misinterpreted him and since then his films were banned in the kingdom. But the people of Nepal have put history behind and are watching the movie in hordes.
According to recent reports, ‘Krrish’ has been running full house since its release last month. Bollywood’s very own Superman has conquered the tiny kingdom once again breaking all records in recent years.
Tanushree Dutta and Emraan Hashmi part ways
It will be first time for Tanushree doing a movie with a lead role that doesn’t star Emraan Hashmi! The movie is “Risk” by Vishram Sawant where she will be seen opposite the modern angry young man Randeep Hooda.
Tanushree Dutta previous movies include Aashiq Banaya Aapne where she was paired against Emraan Hashmi and Chocolate. Both the movies had moderate success at box office and the credit for this goes to Himesh Reshammiya and Pritam.
She was last seen in 36 China Town’ in which she had a song guest appearance ‘Jab Kabhi’. It will be great to watch the new cinematic experience of Tanushree and how she manages against Hooda.
