Aishwarya and Abhishek…speak out yaron!

It has been a bumper draw for media since past few weeks and this week it has won the jackpot! Wondering why? Aree… Bachchan family and Aishwarya has been giving a wonderful time for the media with ‘out of the box’ rumors starting from Abhishek and Aishwarya secretly tying the knot at the Madurai Meenaxi temple to Abhishek rethinking about Aishwarya because of her smooching scene with Hrithik in Dhoom-2. And all these even before both of them spoke about the relation openly.

55

Ash’s been tight lipped and Aby baby’s been evading the topic conveniently. But media had already proved its speculations right… the Bachchan family and Aishwarya were more than spotted at Varanasi performing ‘poojas’ to remove the obstacle in Aishwarya’s horoscope. Common it is obvious even more that the golden couple is going to tie the knot or perhaps already done so!!! It is high time they speak about it before the paparazzi crosses its limits.

Ab SRK banega KKKKCrorepati!!!

shahrukh_khan.jpg

Well, I’m no taxman assessing Shah Rukh Khan to be talking about the millions he’s made. Rather I was referring to Star India’s decision to appoint him the successor of Amitabh Bachchan as the host of the hugely popular show Kaun Banega Corepati’ in its third season. Bollywood’s legend has made the show his own hosting it for the first two seasons but now it seems Big B isn’t too inclined to go further.

So the producers ‘naturally’ approached the King Khan and he agreed, but naturally again. The shooting of the show is expected to begin from mid-December and the show ‘KBC 3’ is expected to go on air from the end of January 2007.

So there you are looks like it is another step in SRK’s effort to emulate the Big B. So after Don its gonna be KBC, wonder what else he wants to copy from Amitabh, may be call himself the Big S (opps… pun intended that). Copying or just a coincidence, SRK is back to where it started all for him. Back in the late 80’s the junta gave him the thumps up making him a superstar and if anything similar happens again he might just be inching his way up to the same pedestal as Big B,… toh shruu Karen yeh adbhut khel KKKK Kaun Banega KKKCorepati tritiya…

Eeji, ooji, suniye ji…Guru hai ji!

Remember tapping your leg for “Chaiyan Chaiyan”? How can you forget right? The combo- Mani Ratnam, Gulzaar and A.R Rahman, repeats in Guru and it has yet again proved to be a deadly combination. November 15 saw the audio launch of Guru but the CDs reached the shelves only on 18th of November. Sony BMG labels the music.
Mani says “The film spans over 30 years between the 50s-80s. We wanted the music to be an interpretation with a certain amount of modernity. We wanted it to evoke the era not recreate it. ‘Mayya Mayya‘ featuring Mallika Sherawat celebrates freedom. It is set in Istanbul, Turkey. It has a Middle Eastern sound and a belly dance to it. The architecture, the way cinematographer Rajiv Menon lit the place and the way it has been choreographed, gives you that buzz of the early ‘50s in an exotic land. It has been sung by a Canadian singer, Chinmayee and Keerthi “.

Guru-2.jpg
Other sound tracks include: A seven-minute song sung by Bappida and K.S Chitra called ‘Yammo yammo’ steals the limelight. Playback singer Madhushree has also recorded a song called ‘Baazi Laga’. And the tracks also have Uditnarayan, Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal and more.
Sab mai bolooon kya…CD khareedo bhai! And give your precious opinion for others about the soundtrack on our website.

Aree Aur suno Guru…!

Abhishek is being heavily complimented for his sleek, slender and sexy looks till now…have you ever wondered how he agreed to put on eleven kilos for his 65-year-old character in Guru? Are tension kyon lene ka…mai hoon na bata ne ke liye…believe me it is all Mr Ratnam’s strategy. Fortunately for Mr Ratnam, Abhishek’s got a sweet tooth and therefore his million-dollar idea worked well. Abhishek was first taken aback by the demand, as he had to join the Dhoom-2 team after the Guru schedule but then being a dedicated actor he agreed to it. Like father like son! And so began Mr Ratnam’s strategy to feed Abhishek at least 12 Rasagullas every day!!! Now that’s what u call having a penchant for reality.guru-still-2.jpg

Even Ash was asked to put on a few kilos but not as much as Abhishek. I guess Mr Ratnam missed out on that part of reality…Guju women at middle age are really hefty!!! No offence to the community…I was just pointing out Guru details yaar- java dyo ne!!!

Abhishek all set for a new look!

Abhishek is already spotting a new look in Guru and Dhoom-2. The actor is working out for his yet another new look as ‘maharaja’ in Yash Raj production’s “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom”. Before you jump into conclusion that it is going to be a period film let me inform you that it is not. It is an out an out this generation film. And guess what- the ‘Mumbai se Aaya Mera Dost’ pair repeats- Abhishek and Lara Dutta are teaming up again and Lara is as usual looking sexy in the film.

jhum-barabar-1.jpg

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom is being directed by Shaad Ali and also stars Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol and Amitabh Bachchan.

DHOOM 2 – Movie Review!

Wanna know how DHOOM 2 was??? Don’t ask me… ask my Honda Unicorn which was driven like never before on my way home… ask the poor cops, who had a tough time trying to note my no. – 4get catching me!!! Ask my keyboard which is being banged right now coz of 100% pure adrenaline!!! Wanna know more??? Read on…

There was this pathetic rumor (which got to us too) that Hrithik was Johny part 2… But forget it people… this one was far superior than any rumor mongrel could’ve ever come up with!!! Sanjay Gadhvi knew the value of this ace up his sleeve and he dealt with it with STYLE!!!

The show timings were 10:00 AM and I only managed to reach there puffing n panting by 10:07 (took time to get ready people… what if I meet a hot chick there?!?!? Or if some gorgeous TV host catches me for an opinion???? )! But thanks to the Kabul Express trailer, I didn’t miss much :) the film starts with a spectacular robbery and the introduction of Hrithik Roshan aka ‘A’… lets not get boring guys… lets DHOOM MACHAALEEEE…

The USP of the movie – The stunts:-

Top notch is the word guys… the stunts pulled off were close to impossible! If you think you’ve seen the best para-trooping scene of Bollywood in DON, then wait till you check this flick out… though there are hardly any bikes, but the DHOOM 2 team never lets you even think about them for a second! HATS OFF to Allan Amin (the ‘imported’ stunts coordinator)

The direction:-

Lets officially rename Sanjay Gadhvi as the DHOOM man guys… his DHOOMing might not stop here you know ;) He’s grown up from bikes and gone to a much higher level… he knows how to treat which character and for how long to retain a frame… Don’t know whether he sat at the editing table too, but Rameshwar Bhagat (the official editor) can sure keep his eyes on all the technical awards this year!!!

The Art direction by Pramod Guruji and Vinod Guruji cannot be left unmentioned guys… the amazing sets that you see in the flick are all because of them!

The screenplay & dialogues:-

The list of awards doesn’t end here people… Vijay Krishna Acharya (responsible for the outstanding screenplay and hair raising dialogues) can also clean up the shelves of his living room… the award season is just round the corner….. The lingo n dialogues given to Uday Chopra were just tttooooo good!!!

Make-Up and effects:-

Whew guys I’m ALL praises for the make-up guys Mike Bates & Mike Stringer… I had never imagined Hrithik could look so uniquely diverse… the make-overs he’s been given have OSCAR perfection (what do you think… the film has angrez make up wallahs after all :P )!!! Needless to say, the special effects are at par with Hollywood… be it Abishekh Bachchan’s water-scooter entry, Hrithik’s diamond robbery or the intense bike chase in the end…

Cinematography:-

The two names mentioned under this bracket are Nirav Shah & Vikas Sivaraman… ad both of them can actually be called the Jodi no.1 with the camera after seeing their work here… this movie is undoubtedly one of the most difficult ones to capture on camera, but they make it seem so effortless man! Be it Hrithik’s grooves and moves which flash like lightning or the intense and slow scene between him and Aishwarya Rai… they make it seem as if no one could do it better than them!!!

The Music:-

Not worth much of a mention… the only aspect (but a very important one!) of the movie which falls below the expectations… Pritam Chakraborty, Salim n Sulaman Merchant couldn’t get even close to the DHOOM track, which still rings in my ears when the needle of my speedometer touches its limit!!! If not for Hrithik’s scintillating dances and some great locales, the songs would’ve fallen flat! Though the background music is great (huge chunks taken from the previous album!) the songs just don’t take the story forward…

The ACTORS and their PERFORMANCES:-

Well, this is what you n I have been waiting for… so let me put it in my favorite style…

Hrithik Roshan surely knows how to get into the skin of his character… be it the innocent Rohit in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ or the shades of grey guy – ARYAN in this epic! Suzanne has given him great smooching lessons too
Abhishekh Bachchan looks macho, mean and SEXY to the hilt! He actually looks like the bad guy at times. But he knows his character well… never think of taking that beard off buddy… girls jus LOVE you this way (WHAT? I was talking about those seated around me!!!)
Uday Chopra is the only comic relief (in his words – a JOKER) in this otherwise intense and high on adrenaline saga… and he does it well… the chemistry between him n Aby baby can actually reach the heights of Munna n Circuit soon (Aby shouts at him with such perfect timing you know)
Bipasha Basu has proved it to the world that she can look, act and do everything (including smooching) better than Aishwarya Rai… she can actually ACT while looking glamorous… double roles too! And it’s not just that Bikini she looks hot in!
Aishwarya Rai.……….. well, she looks good alright… and her curves and fair skin makes you gasp just the way Hrithik does when he first sees her… but thats about it! Maybe she should try silicon implants (and some smooching classes)…

The production:-

This is JUST what I had left out for the end… KUDOS to Aditya Chopra for taking such a huge, but well calculated risk… the 90 crores put into this film show in every frame… though the story telling wasn’t even close to being perfect, but he did manage to make up for it with his touch………..

Sadly, I neither found a hot chick, nor did a gorgeous TV host catch me for my opinion… but u people sure did… do let me know how it was……….

Till then — DHOOM MACHAAALEEEEEE……………..

guys you can now listen to sowmya and me voicing our opinions on DHOOM 2 in our first ever PODCAST at http://bollywood.celebden.com/?p=650 … so do check it out n directly tell me how you found it by leaving audio comments as well as the usual text ones :)

Aage ki dastan…

Han to meherbaan, Kadardaan suniye aage ki dastaan”. Gurustrip1.jpg

Mani has chosen an impressive starcast for the film and one can say that characters speak for the actors that have been chosen for the role. Let me give you a quick review at the starcast:

Guru--14.jpg

Abhishek Bachchan as Gurukant Desai: There’s a saying in our village, if people say bad things about you, you must be doing something good. Sounds true, doesn’t it?

Aishwarya Rai as Sujatha: I hated my father for forcing me to marry Guru. But I was sent away to Bombay to live with my unwanted husband and my anger Guru-13.jpgin a one-room chawl. I don’t know when I stopped thinking of him as a stranger and started calling him Guru. I was too shy to say things like I love you, but love was perfume I wore everyday. Some people call him God, some say he is evil, but for me he is the man who has to just enter the room and I can feel that perfume waft its way across and settle on me… that perfume called love.

Mithun Chakraborty as Manikdas Gupta (Nanaji): Swathantra – is the newspaper I run, and the newspaper runs me. Gurubhaiguru-101.jpg was like a son to me, when I met him first on the streets of Bombay. He had righteous anger and a desire to achieve his goals. I liked that. He was in a hurry to make his own way. I liked that even more. When others told me that Gurubhai was not all white, I thought they were envious of him and ignored them. That was my mistake. No cost is too great in the pursuit of truth. And in my fight for the truth I knew that I’d either destroy Guru or myself. And I was prepared for both.

Madhavan as Shyam Saxena: Gurukanth Desai should be put in a jail and the keys should be thrown away. It’s not just that he is evil, but he awakens the evil in everyone. Gurubhai flirted guru-111.jpgwith the law and the lawmakers, did anything and everything to enhance his business, and then buried the laws and built a fountain on top of it to make the grave look pretty. Profit and the share price were the only two parameters that mattered to him. Right and wrong, just and unjust were incidental. I will fight him and the Gurus of this world till the very end.

Vidya Balan as Meenu: I met Gurubhai when I was seven years old. He was the only one who never asked me guru-12.jpgwhy I limped. While Nanaji and Shyam could only see what Gurubhai had done, I could see why he had done it. When you run fast you do kick up a lot of dust. But dust always settles. I could see it from my wheelchair but Nanaji could not. I like fights. And this one where everyone I loved was fighting each other was exciting. They cared but they fought. The contradiction was exactly like life. And I loved life. Especially when there was so little of it left.

Guru-15.jpg

Ashwariya’s brother and Abhishek’s close friend. MallikaArya Babbar, son of Raj and Nadira Babbar, acts as Sherawat gives a guest appearance in the movie but this time in full costume. Now isn’t that a deadly starcast…I swear that it’s gonna be a different but pleasant experiment on screen.
I guess I poured out a lot today! Just a small wait and I’ll be back in less than 24 hours.

One tight slap!

Himesh Reshammiya’s starlit concert at Surat brought some uncomfortable moments for him. Apparently his loud mouth invited Asha Bhonsle’s wrath when he passed a statement that R.D. Burman….hamare Panchamda…sang with a nasal twang. To this Asha retorted: “If anyone says Burmansaab sang through his nose he should be slapped.”
asha-himesh-1.jpg
And the effervescent Asha was calmed only after Himesh apologized for his statement. I think instead of retorting Ashatai should have acted upon her instinct…it would have been a relief for others who were offended by this statement.

Gowarikar is planing it Biiiiiiig!

Ashutosh Gowarikar is one tough dude for whom criticism never takes shape of an impasse. Jodha-Akbar has drawn flak from the Rajputs and from the semi-government organization for tampering history, which is none of our concern here. Still Gowarikar plans it big for his forth-coming film, which is on production floor right now.

Jodha-Akbar-1.jpg

Being a period love story from Jaipur, Gowarikar roped in Art Director Nitin Desai to build a replica of the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ with two million mirrors. The director has already erected the Amar Singh Darwaza, Diwan-E-Aam and Diwan-E-Khaas. Jaipur government should encourage the movie, as it would give a boost to the already booming tourism industry there. I wonder if Ms Raje is listening! The film is also known to have Tanishq sponsoring the real gold and diamond jewelry for it. Man what a budget Gowarikar’s set apart for it!

Guru le hogayee mai shuroooooooooo!!!

Han to doston… Directed by Mani Ratnam, who has written the script with Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Anurag Kashyap, Guru, is said to be a mature love story. The film was shot in Turkey and Bagalkot, Karnataka, as well as in Chennai. The architecture and mood of the film is so meticulous that one is instantly transported to the Bombay of the 1950s.

Mani Ratnam films are always prooned in secrecy and when they release they just take the audience by a whirlwind. This time Mani didn’t even narrate the entire script to anyone except Abhishek Bachchan who plays the title role and is in the film from the beginning to end.
guru-9.jpg
The unit members share that “No actor from Mani’s repertoire has ever had a chance to play a role like the one Abhishek plays in Guru. His character starts in his 20s in the Bombay of 1950s and ages to 65. Abhishek not only had to put on weight but had to be fitted with a specially made bodysuit to make him look bulky and obese. It took him four hours every day in the sweltering sun just to get into the bodysuit and another hour at the end of the day to get out of costume. But at the end of the day the effort was worth his while.”

Wooph, bulky Abhishek? But of course the risk is worth taking for Mani! Stay tuned for the next piece of Guru people!

Dirty Fellow Ajay!

ajay-devgan-1.jpgBoth husband and wife are seen on Whirlpool Washing Machine ad…so the least one would expect from the popular actor Ajay is a decent clothing, but rumors say that he is moving around in just one pair of clothes every day! How awful! But then its not his fault if directors are hell bent on cutting their production costs by reducing the number of clothes their actors wear. What can an tip to toe character-friendly-actor like Ajay do? And this plight of Ajay is brought exclusively to you by Ram Gopal Varma, who insisted Ajay to wear just one pair of clothes throughout his film “Sholay”. Hope Ajay’s got several duplicate versions of the pair of clothes he is supposed to wear otherwise ‘no scent from Arabia will be able to sweeten the smell’. Oh, I think I got too much concerned about the plight of RGV’s unit.
